Our Groups

For the learnings that are best supported by, and practiced with peers.

At Syzygy Counselling, we’re pleased to offer group counselling as part of our commitment to accessible, community-responsive care. Group therapy provides a supportive and collaborative space where individuals can connect with others who share similar experiences or challenges. Guided by skilled facilitators, our groups draw on Irvin Yalom’s principles of interpersonal learning and “here-and-now” connection. We emphasize authenticity, mutual support, and the transformative power of relationships.

We regularly organize new groups based on the evolving needs of our community. Current offerings include play therapy groups for adolescents and teens, as well as process groups for adults focusing on specific themes or life challenges.

If you’re even curious about whether group counselling might be a fit for you, we encourage you to complete our contact form, specifying which group you are interested in at this time. This helps us understand your needs and, when possible, adapt or design upcoming groups to best support your presenting concerns.

Anxiety Reduction D&D

Dragons can take many forms. These can be social pressures, academic demands, new responsibilities, or even everyday fears. They often feel larger than life, stirring anxiety and self-doubt. But facing these dragons, even the small ones, builds bravery, confidence, and resilience. The Dungeons & Dragons Anxiety Group uses imaginative play to help participants explore and overcome their real-world anxieties. Through guided role play and creative problem-solving, members practice communication, courage, and coping skills in a supportive and playful setting. While the group is built around the Dungeons & Dragons framework, its true focus lies in teamwork, emotional growth, and learning to approach challenges with curiosity and confidence. No prior experience with the game or counselling is needed. Simply a willingness to show up and take the next step forward is needed.

Psychological Safety Group

Psychological Safety is a short-term group designed to help adults explore what it means to feel safe, and how this sense of safety actively influences our ability to speak up and present ourselves bravely. These learnings apply to both within yourselves and in relationship with others. Over the course of 6–8 weeks, participants will learn to recognize patterns that undermine safety and connection, develop healthier boundaries, and practice expressing themselves authentically in a supportive group environment. Rooted in the understanding that healing and growth happen in relationship, this group invites members to experience what safety feels like through open, respectful dialogue and shared exploration. Whether you’ve experienced environments where your voice didn’t feel welcome or simply wish to strengthen your sense of inner security, this group offers a space to rebuild trust in yourself, and with others.

The Daily Process

The Daily Process is a low-cost, ongoing process group designed to support adults (19+) in the everyday work of living, reflecting, and growing. Therapy isn’t only for moments of crisis. It’s also for the quieter seasons of maintenance, reflection, and connection. This group offers a consistent space to check in, share experiences, and explore what it means to stay emotionally balanced in the midst of daily life. Facilitated by a counsellor, members are invited to bring whatever is present for them, often focusing on specific topics multiple group members find engaging, from small frustrations to moments of gratitude. We then work to discover strength through shared understanding. Life can be challenging enough without waiting for a crisis. The Daily Process is here to help you navigate the ongoing rhythms of being human, one week at a time.
